Calling for Industry Island wide Safety Time-Out (STO)

Five Fatalities in 10 Days – Call Upon Industries for Safety Time-Out

The Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council has shared that from 23 November to 2 December 2020, there have been five workplace fatalities across various industries. Preliminary investigations from the Ministry of Manpower have found that these accidents could have been easily prevented through thorough inspection of worksites to correct any potentially unsafe conditions, and workers to be re-trained and given time to adjust after a period of inactivity. They also advised companies to avoid rushing to complete work and fulfil orders before the upcoming festive season, as every accident will cause further delay and tighter deadlines for projects.

How you can help our workers go home safe and healthy

The WSH Council and its Tripartite partners – NTUC, SNEF and MOM, would like to call upon companies to do a Safety Time-Out to take stock and review activities and safety protocols to ensure safe operations.

Please refer to advisory for more info here.

Companies are advised to complete their Safety Time-Out exercises as soon as possible, or at least before 23 December 2020, when the festive season kicks in.

Together, we can prevent all injuries and ill-health at the workplace!
