CDAS held our 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 24th. This was a change of pace as we have gone full physical for the meeting this round and even allowed for some minor networking to take place. While we work hard to live in challenging times, we also look forward to seeing our members at future events soon.

On May 9th, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had highlighted the alarming number of work-related deaths, 10 of which were in April alone. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM), along with Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSHC), National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and other industry partners have called for a Safety Time-Out, urging companies to impose a two-weeks safety time-out from Monday, after 10 workplace fatalities were reported last month. CDAS, together with Singapore Business Federation, Singapore Logistics Association and Singapore Transport Association, in partnership with CO2 Connect (CO2X) Pte Ltd, had organized the first Sustainability virtual seminar titled "Navigating Sustainability: Unlocking the Business Opportunities of Going Green" earlier today, to give a timely update to the business community following the Budget 2022 announcement. The association was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr Soh Keng Hua, CDAS Council Member, on 23 March 2022. Mr. Soh was CEO of Tong Container Depot Pte Ltd, and was part of the CDAS Council, which he had contributed to as a representative voice towards guiding the Association towards bringing the industry to greater heights. We will always appreciate his service and contributions to the Association and industry as well as his friendly personality. Mr. Soh will be deeply missed by us all and we at CDAS express our sincerest condolences to his family and friends. [...]

CDAS turned 30 this past year! You may recall we commemorated it by giving back to society during last year's Mid-Autumn Festival period. Following our mooncake distributions, CDAS had embarked on giving back to society, together with Project Dignity, and helped distribute sponsored mooncakes to NTUC Health Cluster Support. NTUC Health Cluster Support provides intervention care for vulnerable seniors who have no or little family support., and aims to enhance their quality of life and ensure that they have the resources to live safely, independently at home, in their preferred community for as long as possible. The government has announced that on 13 August 2021, that unvaccinated individuals from selected settings must be tested twice a week using Antigen Rapid Tests (ART), under the “Vaccinate or Regular Test” (“VoRT”) regime, starting from 1 October 2021.
