Each year, as part of the PSA Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Launch, PSA engages the Haulier Associations (CDAS, SLA and STA) to encourage members to nominate drivers for the Most Safety Conscious Driver Award to be presented at the PSA HSSE Launch. The association was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr Sharafdeen S N Abdul Rasak, former CDAS President on 20 March 2021. Mr. Sharafdeen was one of the founding members of the Association, who had helped establish the Association, along with other container depot operators, and helped guide and grow it to where it is today. Dear Members,   With effect from 22 January 9am, the Antigen Rapid Test (ART) will be progressively rolled out for cargo drivers and accompanying personnel entering Singapore at the Singapore Tuas and Woodlands checkpoints.   Tested personnel with a negative result may proceed to enter Singapore. This is in line with the requirement for all travellers to undertake COVID-19 testing on arrival in Singapore to manage the growing risk of imported COVID-19 cases.   Attached is also an infographic illustrating the testing procedures at the respective checkpoints. Five Fatalities in 10 Days – Call Upon Industries for Safety Time-Out The Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council has shared that from 23 November to 2 December 2020, there have been five workplace fatalities across various industries. Preliminary investigations from the Ministry of Manpower have found that these accidents could have been easily prevented through thorough inspection of worksites to correct any potentially unsafe conditions, and workers to be re-trained and given time to adjust after a period of inactivity. 77 contractors, operators and organisations were recognised by the Land Transport Authority for their excellent workplace safety, health and environment management practices in 2019 at the 22nd Annual Safety, Health and Environmental Award Convention (ASAC). LTA had approached CDAS for nominations for this award, and had assisted the application process.
